Central Library

The central library is wheelchair accessible. You can connect to free Wi-Fi or use computers with internet access and black and white printing. You can visit the Music Department, check out the Pragensia or the Theatre Department.

Those interested in coworking can use the Workshop or the creative space Basement. We are happy to provide information to readers and visitors. For children and parents, we offer a pleasant corner in the children's department. If you want to make videos about books, ask for the BookTube corner. You can pay by card at the branch.

Important information about the library during Christmas

• Branches are closed during the xmas holidays and also on Monday 23 December 2024 and Tuesday 31 December 2024.
• The Velký mlýn and Hloubětín branches will be exceptionally closed throughout the Christmas holidays.
• Bibliobuses will not run from 23 December 2024 to 1 January 2025.

Idiom

Idiom is an art installation of 8000 books. The author of Idiom is Slovak artist Matej Krén. It has been installed in the foyer of the Central Library on Mariánské náměstí since 1998.

Culture and cinema of MKP

We organize concerts, lectures and theatre performances in the halls of the Central Library. You can also find our cinema there. What do we play? Films for children and seniors. Non-commercial art productions, forgotten legends of world cinema, graduate films, documentaries on current topics, unconventional works that you won't see elsewhere. In the foyer you will find the box office, where you can buy tickets for cultural events.
